This course invites students to explore the material and technical possibilities of drawing, where traditional skills meet innovative approaches. Whether beginner or an experienced artists, students work with a wide range of dry and wet mediums such as graphite, charcoal, pastels, erasers, and ink. Embrace the unexpected by incorporating unconventional materials like thread, tape, twigs, and everyday objects, pushing the boundaries of what drawing can be.

Through hands-on experimentation, you’ll discover how line, value, composition, and texture can transform with the use of handmade marking tools and found materials. This class emphasizes creativity, perception, and imagination, challenging you to reimagine drawing in a contemporary context. All levels are welcome.

Location: This is an in-person class taking place at the new BAC campus located in Santa Monica at

1625 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, CA. LINK TO MAP.

Transportation and Parking: Centrally located for easy access from all over Los Angeles County, BAC is only a 5-minute walk from the E Line (Expo) Metro Rail station exit off of 17th/SMC. The Center has a small parking lot located right in front of the buildings entrance. If parking is unavailable in the lot there is 2, 3 and 9-hour metered street parking in the area.
