Veterans Art Program
At the Brentwood Art Center, we believe in the transformative power of art. As part of our commitment to serving our community, the Brentwood Art Center launched a free art program for veterans in 2014. The program is a nurturing and productive environment for veterans that gives them the opportunity to express their creative voices. Last year, in 2018-2019, three faculty members, Gary Paller, David McDonald, and Sophia Pezeshk provided 225 hours of art instruction free of charge at the Westwood and Long Beach Veterans Administration Medical Centers. Our Veterans exhibited their work in a culminating exhibition at the Geffen Playhouse and at our annual Student and Faculty exhibition.
BAC Veterans programs have been funded by the California Arts Council and supported in part by Arts Council for Long Beach and the City of Long Beach.
