Financial Aid
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Brentwood Art Center (BAC) is committed to ensuring equitable access to the arts. Each term the Friends of the Brentwood Art Center awards need-based scholarships and provides financial support to low-income adults and children by reducing class fees. Pre-Pandemic, BAC awarded more than $55,000 in scholarships to 21 adults and 45 children from low-income families on an annual basis. Please join us and apply by completing and submitting the online form with all necessary financial documents. If needed, you can also fill out a PDF application form in English or in Spanish and return it to us by mail or email.
Applications must be received at least three weeks before the start of the term to ensure they are considered before the start of the quarter. Applications received after this point may not be considered before classes begin.
Please note that a new application form is required each fall. A separate application form is required for Summer Day Camp scholarships.
When completing an application, you will be asked to provide basic contact information, the class that you would like to apply for, a short explanation of the reason for your application, and evidence of your financial circumstances.
If you have any issues with the form or any questions about the process, please email us at info@brentwoodart.org, and our advisors will be happy to assist you.
Details
Eligibility
Financial aid is awarded in three tiers: 90%, 50% and 25% of tuition. Eligibility is based on adjusted gross income level and household size, according to the above information.
Eligibility is not a guarantee of financial aid. Applications will be considered and approved on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend applying early each semester.
The Brentwood Art Center will work with you to find a class that fits your needs and your schedule, but we cannot guarantee that you will be able to attend your first preference of class. We recommend listing up to 3 classes that you would like to take in your application. Financial aid is limited to one class per student per term.
Continuing In a Class
If you wish to continue in a class in the following semester, we must receive an application for the next semester at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the term to hold your space in the class. Specific deadline dates will be published on the Brentwood Art Center website each term.
Payment
Payment of your portion of tuition can either be made in full at the start of a term or in monthly installments during the semester. If some other arrangement or timing of payments would work better for you, please contact us and we will work with you to find a solution that fits your needs.
Student Status
Students receiving financial aid will be entitled to the same provisions and status as other students at the Brentwood Art Center. Policies regarding makeup classes, priority enrollment periods, cancellation and refunds will apply to all enrolled students, regardless of the amount of financial aid they receive.
