Kim Russo
MFA from Indiana University/Bloomington
BFA, Tyler School of Art (Temple University)
Kim Russo’s paintings are cautionary tales - warnings about how our past and current relationships with the earth are predicting a frangible future. She makes her own botanical inks from foraged plants that she uses along with commercial watercolor paint. The contrast between these two water-based media delineates the distinction between symbiotic and synthetic relationships with nature.
Kim’s work is in the permanent collections of the Hilliard Art Museum, the New Mexico Museum of Art and the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, as well as notable private collections. She has received residency fellowships from the Lenz Foundation, Caldera, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Americans for the Arts. She lives in Topanga, California.
