Instructor: Jim Hake
This course explores nocturnal imagery through an investigation of the color blue. Imagine the deepest darkest blue and then take it one step further – create paintings using nocturnal imagery as a focus.
In this course, students create a series of layered, invented compositions that examine the intensity, saturation, translucency, and opacity of gouache water-based paint. A process-based course, students work on multiple paintings simultaneously.
The course also covers a wide variety of artworks by artists working with blue and nightscapes for inspiration.
