Using mosaics as a form of decorative art has been popular since the Ancient Romans and Greeks. Mosaics were used to create elaborate floors and embellish beautiful walls of important buildings. The intricate patterns and images were created using small regular or irregular pieces of colored stone, glass, or ceramic. Today, mosaics are still a popular art form used in homes, public buildings, and to adorn objects. This fun course will teach students about different types of tiles, color theory, pattern design, and how to create interesting mosaic surfaces on unique pieces of art such as trivets, vases, picture frames, flowerpots, coasters, and more. This course is great for children who want to make mosaic art for themselves or as gifts.
