This course focuses on developing observational painting skills using acrylic or oil paint. Composition, form, value, color theory, and paint application will be covered.
Students create paintings with a variety of color relationships, textures, and surfaces, while rendering basic shapes as a foundation for our compositions. Students learn painting fundamentals, while starting to see the world through a new set of lenses.
This class is intended for beginners and those who want to review the fundamentals of painting. A background in drawing is encouraged, but not required.
Location: This is an in-person class taking place at the new BAC campus located in Santa Monica at
1625 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, CA. LINK TO MAP.
Transportation and Parking: Centrally located for easy access from all over Los Angeles County, BAC is only a 5-minute walk from the E Line (Expo) Metro Rail station exit off of 17th/SMC. The Center has a small parking lot located right in front of the buildings entrance. If parking is unavailable in the lot there is 2, 3 and 9-hour metered street parking in the area.
