Instructor: Maddie Edgar
Bird illustration harks back to a time when humans sought to document and categorize what an animal looked like for someone in a different location. Today, even though it may be easier to take a photo on a cell phone, scientific illustrators and artists create images that reveal delicate details that photographs can not.
In this course, students learn to draw birds from observation and photographs. Working in colored pencils, students focus on techniques such as color blending, scumbling, and shape blocking. Also covers use of color, value, intensity, contrast, positive/negative space, and composition. No drawing experience necessary.
